Hello, I’m Adam Marin, MA, LPC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 5 years of experience working in clinical settings with diverse populations, ranging from your standard outpatient setting, intensive outpatient and partial care programs for mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. I provide psychoeducation and guidance to people who are easily overwhelmed to learn techniques and strategies, such as, distress tolerance, stress management, anger management, acceptance, and relapse prevention plans. My focus is to provide a safe space for you to express yourself, that way together we can work as a team to strategize how to help you manage your emotions and address the needs of your mind, body, and spirit. As a team, we will develop your treatment plan by identifying value-based goals, objectives, and interventions that are suited to give you the ability to best address your presenting problems.
I once worked with a client for about six months who struggled enormously with past trauma Through our work together, they were able to manage their external and internal triggers from negatively impacting their present and future.
Though every person’s situation is unique, I generally approach the counseling process from a Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework to help my clients increase psychological flexibility, or the ability to enter the present moment more fully and either change or persist in behavior when doing so serves valued ends.
My first session isn’t just a time for demographic gathering. It’s important that my clients understand that counseling is a process that can work for them, so we’ll spend time tackling a specific issue.
I have been interested in the mind and how it works ever since I was an adolescent. Additionally, I am the type of person who has always lent a hand to those in need. Through it all, I've learned to love seeing people discover their true potential and succeed, be it a big or small goal.
Highlights
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
My counseling style is genuine, compassionate, empathic, and curious. My goal is to provide therapy that is catered to the individual and collaborative. Therapy is most effective as a collaborative effort. The goal for each session is for you to speak freely and with confidence about any issues or concerns that have transpired since your last session. Your treatment plan will provide us with a road map to how your sessions will be tailored. I am here to support and empower you through the entire journey of your treatment. I look forward to working with you!
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I am a believer that not one method or tool will fit everyone. I am an expert in psychotherapy, you are an expert in yourself, and I believe you already have many of the answers inside of you. Your treatment plan will be individualized and tailored to fit your specific needs. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy
