I am patient, kind, and will use all of my knowledge and experience in helping you overcome your stress and your troubles without judgement. I have more than 15 years of direct practice experience and I have learned that everyone's unique life journey calls for an individualized plan. As for my background and experience, since attaining my Bachelors in Psychology and my Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University, I have worked in the mental health field conducting home visits, running groups, and working as an outpatient clinician working with couples, families, and on an one-on-one basis. The variety of settings (school, community, outpatient, group-home, clinic, telehealth) and the diversity of people that I have had the privilege to counsel over the years, from children to the elderly, is what has helped me become the well-rounded clinician and person that I am today.
I always love to see when my clients are able to truly realize and internalize their value as people and thus have increased self-esteem (and decrease in other symptoms like depression and anxiety). When that shift happens and they go from needing validation from external factors in order to feel happy and fulfilled - to being able to consistently journey to a place of attaining that same satisfaction on their own accord, it makes all the hard work worth it!
Every person’s situation is unique but I do believe in a holistic approach where everything that we have gone through and are currently going through affects us in ways that we may not even realize. I plan to meet you where you are currently at. Sometimes that looks like you venting your emotions and feelings, other times working on coping skills to manage symptoms, while other times exploring trauma from your past.
In our first session we will discuss what your goals are and what you need from me. I will always be present with you and most importantly, make you feel at ease and safe during our time together.
Ever since I was really young, I have been interested in the human connection and how the mind works. I have always been someone who is able to see things from multiple perspectives and I find it easy to put myself in other peoples’ shoes. Counseling has always been a very natural fit for me and helping people find their own version of success and happiness is something that I enjoy and do not take for granted.
Highlights
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In a session with me, you should expect honesty, empathy, and my full attention. I will be a positive and consistent person in your space and we will move at your pace. My role is to empower you, support you, and help you with what you need - in order to live a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life. This is your treatment!
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I approach therapy as a collaborative process where I will provide you with different perspectives to the situations at hand, along with the tools you need to handle or move forward from what is troubling you. I will always keep in mind both your short and your long-term goals while using a mix of treatment modalities, depending on your unique needs. Some of those modalities include but are not limited to motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, humanistic, and solution focused counseling. I am here to help!
Explain to clients what you feel are your biggest strengths.
I would say that my biggest strength is creating a genuine human connection. I appreciate working with adults where they are open in exploring different perspectives and are receptive to gentle constructive criticism (without judgement). Your happiness, safety, and peace for yourself and those around you is my ultimate goal. With that said, we will create our own unique dynamic and work together to get you to that more positive space.
