Brianna is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in working with adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, work-related stress, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. She believes that every individual has the ability to reach their fullest potential when provided with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to explore, heal, and grow.
A client of mine was dealing with a lot of anxiety and intrusive thoughts due to their diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The combination of negative self-view and anticipating the worst was debilitating on their every day life. Due to their symptoms, they would avoid social gatherings, applying to college, and could not maintain interpersonal relationships. With a client-centered approach and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) my client successfully went on to enroll in college, establish and maintain relationships, and prioritized self-care.I am so happy for this client and their progress.
My main priority in our sessions is to create an environment that makes you feel safe and comfortable all while building a therapeutic alliance. We will establish goals you would like to set and achieve during our time together. I will provide skills and techniques to build your tool kit. We will continuously review your treatment plan to see where you are in your progress and make accommodations where applicable.
I totally understand how nerve-wracking meeting someone for the first time can be - let alone bringing your guard down and trusting someone with information you hold dear to you. That being said, our first session will be spent gathering details about you, what brings you to therapy, and the goals you have in mind for our future sessions. I will go over the process and what to expect in future sessions based on the goals that are unique to your treatment plan. Of course, a portion of our first session will provide you with insight to who I am as a therapist and also the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
What motivates me to be a therapist is the growth, success, and change I know people have within, even when it is hard for them to see for themselves.
