FAQs

One of the biggest breakthroughs I had with a client was a teenager with debilitating anxiety. After several months she was able to go out the house without her parents and spend time one on one with friends. She was able to sleep all night without her mother in bed. She was able to function independently with the use of her learned coping skills.

Clients can expect during their sessions, that I allow them the bring what ever is going on in their life to session. I will follow along as this is their time and not feel pressured to stick to one topic.

Typically the first session will focus on going over the necessary paperwork and getting to know each other to build a lasting rapport. Often times first session can be overwhelming but I will do my best to make you comfortable every step of the way.

Life can be very unrelenting and throws you curve balls at every turn. Sometimes we all need to help to deal with those issues. I have always been drawn to understand why people do the things that they do and help them to see things from other perspectives. This does not feel like a job to me but a calling. I enjoy helping others.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The biggest concern for me is the client- therapist relationship. I want every client that comes to a session to feel heard and understood without being judged. A client needs to feel comfortable with their therapist for any real change to occur.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I was told by a professor one time a saying that has stuck with me throughout the years that I often share with others. "You need to get in the sandbox with your client" and this means that I'm able to "sit" with each client to ensure that I'm able to understand what is going on and be side by side with each individual to help them along with their journey to accomplish their personal goals.
