About Me

Hi there, I’m Marisol Charernsook. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience working in both education and clinical settings, ranging from residential mental health programs to intensive in community settings. Whether you're dealing with life changing events such as relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help you. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space where you can be heard and helped without judgment. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can use the stumbling blocks of life as stepping stones to help you rebuild your confidence towards a future with hope. Let's work together!

I once worked with a client for about six months who struggled enormously with self-injurious behavior. Through our work together, they were able to replace the self-injurious behavior with a healthy coping skill.

Though every person’s situation is unique, I generally approach the counseling process from a cognitive behavior therapy framework to help my clients understand how their thinking process impact their behavior in everyday life.

My first session isn’t just a time for demographic gathering. It’s important that my clients understand that counseling is a process that can work for them, so we’ll spend time tackling a specific issue and crafting coping skill techniques

I love seeing people transform their lives by implementing simple steps of change. I enjoy helping people achieve and explore their hidden potential.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My counseling style is authentic, integrative, holistic, supportive, genuine, kind, compassionate, perceptive, and curious. My approach combines faith based, existential, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral counseling. I am focused on the here and now and I want to know what is important to you and how we can move you towards your mental wellness goals. I am so excited that you are choosing to make a positive choice in your life today and I am here to support and empower you through the entire journey. I look forward to working with you!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am an eclectic practitioner that utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapies. Not one method or tool will fit everyone. I am an expert in cognitive behavior therapy, you are an expert in yourself, and I truly believe that you already have many of the answers inside of you. Your treatment plan will be individualized and tailored to fit your specific needs. I have experience in using the following methods such as Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy.
