About Me

Hi! I am Michelle Hurtt, an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I have worked in the mental health field for over 16 years in various settings including community behavioral health, foster care, and private practice. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and my study of trauma is ongoing. I am passionate about working with women who are survivors of trauma, especially survivors of sexual trauma, childhood sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Other behavioral health issues I may be able to help you with are anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-confidence and PTSD.

FAQs

Over the years clients have experienced numerous breakthroughs from experiencing low self-esteem and low self-confidence to gaining the confidence needed to start their own businesses; from no longer wanting to live to discovering their life purpose, walking in it and being able to handle everyday stressors.

I will meet you where you are and spend time getting to know you while helping you to truly get to know yourself. Trauma work will be with your consent and at your own pace. Taking a holistic/person-centered approach, I use a combination of interventions including trauma-focused, cognitive and sensory-based interventions, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness tailored to your individual needs.

Seeking therapy can be scary so I commend you for reaching out. In the first session, we will begin building a therapeutic alliance, discuss your presenting problems and begin working together to identify goals and strategies for overcoming those problems.

My desire and life purpose are to instill hope, to empower, inspire, motivate, and encourage women to begin their journey to wholeness and to identify and walk in their life purpose. This is what motivates me.

Highlights

I hope you will leave your sessions feeling that you have been heard, knowing that someone cares, empowered and confident enough to do the things you are meant to do. I am here and will help you on your journey to wholeness.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Psychotherapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy,  Trauma-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
