My name is Anita Abotsi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 9 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Rhode Island college and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I’ve worked in community based mental health settings, inpatient crisis stabilization and substance abuse recovery to name a few. I serve both the youth and adult population with a wide range of clinical issues that include depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, self-esteem, anger management, stress management, substance abuse, self-care, relationship issues and life transitions.
Recently I helped a client recognize that her ex-boyfriend's behavior in their relationship was not singular to her. Through her discussion about how he carried himself, how he interacted with others and lackadaisical approach to everything his life also included their relationship. He was not being intentional with everything in his life and client shared that helped her feel better and not take on any blame for how he treated her.
They can expect a collaboration with treatment planning, psychoeducation on interventions, interventions within sessions and outside of session (i.e homework). They can expect me not to give up on them, patience even when they are not patient within themselves and continuous encouragement.
First session is typically gathering bio-psycho-social information and creation of treatment plan with client's goals.
What motivates is being a listening ear in their most vulnerable moments, Helping clients make incremental changes in their lives by working together to create more positive outcomes and lifestyle changes.
