About Me

Hello there, My name is Jennifer Sims. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LPC) and have over 20 years of experience in the field. I have a solid foundation in utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution focused therapy. I also have a strong Christian faith and am very passinate about providing faith based counseling to those individuals that want to incorporate their faith into our sessions. I am known for a warm, relaxed, empathetic approach to counseling; helping you to explore ways to make the changes in your life that will allow you to grow and look forward to the future with hope and encouragement. I work with clients from a strength-based, positive and affirming approach, helping you to feel inspired to succeed in whatever areas of your life you are willing to dive into. I work with a wide range of issues including: depression, anxiety, unresolved emotional issues, grief and loss, relational/family concerns, and substance abuse. I also love providing counseling to couples, as this is also a specialty of mine. I earned my Bachelor of science degree in Clinical Psychology from York College of Pennsylvania, and my Master of science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

FAQs

Helping a married couple regain trust and solidarity again, after a painful betrayl within their marriage. Seeing both of them put the effort and work into saving their marriage.

I like to work from a warm, causual, relaxed approach in order to build trust and have you, the client gain some confidence in the relationship, as well as feel secrure and safe in our space together.

Our first session will be about developing trust and gathering information that you feel comfortable sharing with me. The session will be about identifying some of the reasons you came into counseling and assessing whether I am the right fit for you. It is important that you feel heard and comfortable with me so that we can move forward in a productive and meaningful way.

I am in this field because it brings me joy to see the light in your eyes when their is the spark of "ah ha"! This means we are getting somewhere and that the work we are doing is meaningful. Sometimes new perspective sheds new light to better outcomes in life. Better outcomes means happier people!
