Henry Liscio
Henry Liscio, M.A. earned his degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University after studying psychology, philosophy, and music at the University of Missouri. Known for his honest feedback and thoughtful listening, Henry has long been a trusted confidant to those around him. With deep interest in relationships, personality, mindfulness, and personal growth, Henry’s aim is for his client’s to feel seen, heard, and supported. Outside of counseling, he enjoys time with loved ones, playing basketball, attending live music, doodling, and making music with his band.
In one session, a teen client who had long struggled with racing thoughts and substance use committed to a facilitated mindfulness practice in session and after just ten minutes of focused breathing, he sat up, visibly lighter, and said he finally realized he could slow things down on his own. That moment marked a shift: the insight that calm and clarity were already within him, not in a substance, helped him reclaim a sense of autonomy and self-determination.
Clients can expect to be met with genuine care and presence as they share their story. As we develop a greater understanding of the needs at hand, we’ll create a collaborative plan. You'll receive support, guidance, and encouragement as you take each step towards your goals.
Our first session begins with a brief overview of informed consent and confidentiality. From there, the large majority of the session is about you beginning to tell your story - who you are, where you are in your life, and where you hope to be at the end of the counseling process. In the last 10-15min we'll ensure we're on the same page regarding best next steps as well as a rough treatment plan that will be revised in the following session.
I love the process. I've experienced it and I've facilitated it for others -when approached whole heartedly, counseling (both as a counselor and a client) is engaging, meaningful, and dare I say, fun. I suppose the other side of the coin is the pain of a life riddled with shame, loneliness, and uncertainty. These feelings are heavy and real. I know from personal experience and through working with others that these can become acceptance, community, and purpose when we are willing to look at ourselves and our life honestly.
