Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree from Temple University and her master’s degree from Fordham University. She has worked at an inpatient psychiatric facility for over three years, primarily supporting adults and older adults. Kelly holds a deep admiration for her clients who commit to the challenging work of self-reflection and strive to change long-held negative thought patterns. She also enjoys incorporating humor into her work and has a unique ability to find lightness even in the most difficult circumstances.
I worked with a client who had an extraordinary amount of loss in a short period of time. She felt hopeless and overwhelmed with grief to the point it was difficult for her to access her emotions at all. Through careful and slow work, we were able to break through the walls she had built up and safely access and process the painful emotions.
Generally, clients can expect a "go at your own pace" experience in their counseling process with me. Not every session will be deeply impactful and that's okay; sometimes just reviewing the week or venting about a frustration is what feels best. We will work on your goals, establish a safe and solid therapeutic relationship, and hopefully have some laughs as you watch my cat walk past the camera occasionally.
The first session is about learning what a client's goals and expectations are for therapy. It's about building rapport and finding out if I am the best fit for them.
It sounds cliche, but I genuinely enjoy helping people. I love seeing people find their joy again and realize their worth.
