My name is Marquis Rhodes, LPC. I specialize in working with Depression and Anxiety. If you have ever felt these heavy emotions, just know that you aren't alone; and like many others, I am here to help. Through our partnership, we will work from a framework that best suits you as we target the roots, not just the branches. The journey is different for everyone, but regardless of how long it takes, I will be by your side. Never leading you, never racing you, I'm just there with you, supporting you. What I bring to the table is a mix of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Intersubjective Psychoanalysis effectively focusing on thoughts to actions and why we take those actions. Starting with my time in the military, I have worked in the health field since 2013 and have worked with everyone from Vets to Adolescents.
I had a client who had been perseverating on his past, things he felt had made his life bad at present. Through our work and his will, we were able to work on his ability to accept pain without allowing suffering. He had started to turn towards the person he wanted to be versus scolding himself for who he once was.
I think that there is no general expectation for sessions. I alter approaches based on my client and their needs/wants. What they can expect is that I will be making a space for them specifically.
My first session is typically a rapport based session but it depends on the client. Typically we will establish agreed upon rules for sessions.
Simply having someone teach me what depression was, was enough to alter my life for the better. I am motivated to help other have that change.

They are provided with a secure and welcoming space to express themselves freely, leaving each session feeling like they’ve genuinely connected with another human being.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy & Solution-Focused Therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My biggest strengths is my ability to be engaged and responsive, giving a less tense and formal air. I rely on my ability to ask questions without accusations. I guess I am saying that my biggest strengths are making therapy comfortable and as easy as possible.
