About Me

My name is Megan Shane. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I have experience working with adults and families in the field of mental health and addiction. I have years of experience, ranging from inpatient to different levels of outpatient services. Weather you are dealing with relationship issues, cycles of depression or anxiety or a need for behavioral changes such as substance use, I’d like to help you to develop the ability to manage/ regulate episodes, recognition of triggers and ability to share thoughts and feelings about past and current events. I like to create a safe space for you to heal and grow as well as develop a better understanding of symptoms and managing them on your own.

FAQs

I once worked with someone who was struggling with PTSD. Through my approach and the work, we did together this individual was able to gain insight into triggers and gain control of their negative thoughts and feelings. They were able to challenge their fears and discuss difficult things that happened in the past that were contributing to symptoms of depression and anxiety. This individual was able to improve several parts of their life after discussing difficult situations from their past and changing the way that they interpreted the world around them.

Individuals can expect a person-centered approach that focuses on gaining insight into unhealthy patterns of thinking and behaviors that are having a negative impact on different areas your life.

My first session with you will be focused on understanding your goals in treatment and developing a plan to begin to work towards those goals. We will explore all your needs by gaining insight into biological, psychological, and social needs.

I believe in everyone deserving help in working towards taping into their capabilities to make the changes they desire to achieve the goals that they have for themselves. I want to be able to help others discover their own potential to gain control of their lives by alleviating emotional, psychological, or relational pain.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I use an interactive and compassionate therapeutic approach to help you gain insight into patterns of thinking and behaving that have become unproductive. My goals are to help you to increase your motivation to engage in change, give you tools to navigate towards a life of fulfillment, gain a better understanding of illness and diagnosis, ability to recognize triggers and positive/ productive ways to manage symptoms on your own. I provide the necessary support allowing you to face life situations that can be overwhelming, and you are unable to address on your own.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidenced-based therapies, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma informed care. I utilize mindfulness-based techniques to promote relaxation and grounding. Your treatment plan will be individualized to your needs. We will collaborate to create a plan that involves using the tools you feel work best for you to achieve your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I use my years of training and experience to help promote healthier lifestyles. I have experience working with adults, couples, active and retired first responders and military with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, addiction and difficulty adjusting to life changes. Your experience with me would involve gaining a better awareness of self and managing a healthier lifestyle by promoting wellness and recovery.
