I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from Siena College and went on to earn my master's degree in social work at Fordham University. I have worked in social work for over 10 years in a variety of areas, including schools, homeless and domestic violence shelters, and adoption agencies. I am passionate about helping others and providing an open and safe space for clients.
I worked with a client who experienced significant trauma throughout her life. She was struggling with processing her trauma and it was affecting various areas of her life, including sleep and relationships. We worked on developing coping skills, including relaxation techniques, to help improve her sleep habits, as well as explored her relationships and the need to set boundaries. She was able to improve her sleep and identify unhealthy aspects of relationships and implemented appropriate boundaries.
The counseling process will begin with the client identifying their reason(s) for seeking therapy and their hopes for what they want to accomplish through therapy. We will then explore these reasons, set goals and utilize different techniques to assist in accomplishing those goals depending on what works for the client.
Your first session is a chance for me to get to know you and the reason you are seeking therapy. I will gather some background information, such as family and medical history that you are comfortable sharing, to help me have an understanding of your background. The first session is designed for us to get to know each other and answer any questions you may have.

I feel that my empathy and acceptance for people and their circumstances is what helps people feel comfortable. Everyone has a unique story and path and nobody is perfect.
