About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who desires to offer my expertise to clients as they travel through their wellness journeys. I have been in the social work field since 1994 and have enjoyed 13 years of that time helping clients feel and do their best with the help of my mental health strategies. My philosophy encompasses the whole person. I want to make sure that clients feel well in their minds, bodies, and spirits. I make each client's mental health treatment plan individualized. Since I have an appreciation for the arts, creativity, and movement, I have incorporated art, music, poetry, journal writing, and role-playing into treatment sessions. I have worked with pregnant women, infants, and children on up through the elderly population, who were mostly from low to middle income levels. I have facilitated parenting groups for parents and guardians of children with behavioral and emotional issues as well as having dealt with crisis situations and am knowledgeable about community resources that clients need. I enjoy corresponding with clients' medical and other pertinent providers to make sure that coordination of services occurs.

FAQs

I helped a client work through childhood trauma and in turn, she was able to understand her triggers, current behavioral patterns, and maladaptive survival skills that manifested because of the trauma. She was then able to challenge her thoughts and behaviors and change them to make her life into more of how she really wanted it to be.

I will conduct an intake assessment and a treatment plan will then be developed. Throughout next sessions, the clients and I will work together to meet the goals in the treatment plans using evidence-based approaches. Discharge and aftercare planning will take place as well.

During first sessions, I will conduct an intake assessment to get a better understanding of clients' needs, wants, strengths, medications/health conditions, psychosocial issues, and community and family involvement levels. This information will be used to then develop a client-centered based treatment plan.

I love helping others become to best version of themselves, healed, and whole. I enjoy the therapusutic process and watching my clients' progress!

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to get a better understanding of their thought patterns, ideas, and beliefs that have contributed to their mental health conditions. They will learn coping and self-soothing techniques, as appicable, to help manage their mental health symptoms. Clients will be challenged to overcome fears and maladaptive behaviors. They will also be challenged to care for their physical health as it impacts mental health. Since I am a strong believer that an hour long mental health treatment session one time per week is not enough, I may assign homework. However, there is no pressure for them to complete the assignments. My clients will be able to use various ways to express themselves via creative arts, movement, mind-body activities, and other creative means. Sessions can be fun and I do value laughter! Clients can expect to be in a safe, empathetic environment during sessions. Since I tend to be very observant, engage in reflective listening, and ask pertinent investigative questions, clients can expect to be given feedback and support regarding issues they may be facing. Clients can expect their therapeutic goals to be met since I am goal driven and client-centered.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Client Centered, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and Trauma-Focused modalties. I also incorporate Experimental, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Polyvagal Therory, Creative arts, movement and roleplaying techniques.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths consist of my ablility to help clients formulate treatment goals with the help of my reflective listening skills. I am very good at incorporating things clients like to do into therapy sessions, as I love being creative. I know many tools and techniques to help clients to heal emotionally. I am empathetic and am comfortable with silence during sessions as needed and with allowing clients to have space to cry. (I will have lots of tissues in my office.) I am a patient and confident therapist who respects the desires of clients. I want to help clients to be able to solve their own problems and I really enjoy working with diverse populations.
