I am a dual-certified Nurse Practitioner with over 8 years of experience as an NP and more than 13 years in nursing, holding board certifications in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care and Psychiatric-Mental Health. My background spans primary care, outpatient cardiology, and psychiatry, enabling me to provide comprehensive, integrative care that addresses both physical and mental health needs. I have developed a strong foundation in managing chronic conditions, preventive care, and behavioral health, with a commitment to treating patients holistically. My cardiology experience has refined my approach to complex medical issues, while my psychiatric training has enhanced my ability to support emotional and psychological well-being. Motivated by a deep compassion for others, I pursued an advanced degree in psychiatry to bridge the gap between physical and mental health.
One particularly meaningful breakthrough was helping a patient who had been struggling with depression for over 20 years finally experience significant relief. She had tried multiple treatments in the past without success and was hesitant to make any changes. Through building trust and open communication, she allowed me to guide her in adjusting her medication regimen. I reassured her that she was not alone in this journey and emphasized that her voice and preferences were central to the treatment plan.
Clients can expect a counseling process that is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to their individual needs. During our sessions, we will explore not just symptoms, but underlying patterns, life experiences, and current challenges to gain a deeper understanding of what’s affecting their mental health. I take a supportive and non-judgmental approach, combining evidence-based interventions with active listening and open dialogue. Clients are encouraged to be active participants in their care, and together we will set realistic goals, track progress, and make adjustments as needed.
The first session is primarily focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you in for care. We’ll go over your medical and mental health history, current symptoms, lifestyle factors, and any previous treatments or medications you've tried. I’ll ask questions to get a full picture of your emotional and physical well-being, but just as importantly, I’ll take time to listen to your concerns and goals. This session is a safe, judgment-free space where you can speak openly, and you’ll be encouraged to share at your own pace.
What motivates me to be a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives by helping them navigate some of their most vulnerable moments. I’ve seen firsthand how untreated mental health conditions can impact every area of a person’s life, and I’m passionate about being part of their healing journey. My goal is to create a supportive space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered to take control of their mental well-being. I chose this path because I believe in treating the whole person—mind and body.
