About Me

Hello, my name is Nora Murray! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. I graduated from Rutgers in 2021 with a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Since graduating I have gained a variety of experience working with Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Mood Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, the LGBTQIA+ population, grief, and life adjustments. My approach to therapy is always flowing with the needs of each client. It can be stressful starting therapy or finding a new therapist, but I can ensure you that you will feel welcomed, supported, and provided with a safe space to grow your personal insight and growth. I can ensure that I am committed to helping you become your best self, achieve goals, provide guidance, and to be an ongoing support whatever may come your way.

Helping a client work through treatment resistance and understanding that there are many different approaches and solutions to her concerns. It is important to find a path of healing that is best suited for you. This client was able to commit to therapy after months of non-compliance, becoming more open-minded to the possibility of a solution!

I like to take a client-centered approach, tailoring each session to the unique goals one presents to therapy with. I will work my best to provide guidance, education, and support while remaining focused on your needs. I aim to build strong rapport, making our sessions welcoming and a space to grow.

A first session is an opportunity for you to tell me more about yourself and the reasons you are seeking therapy. As I mentioned before, starting therapy or switching to a new therapist can be a big change, so our first session is the time to share what you are comfortable with and we will continue to grow. It is also an opportunity for you to learn more about me, my approach to therapy, and what services I am able to provide. I hope to make our sessions a safe space from day 1 where you feel you listened to and understood.

Since a young age I've been drawing to helping others and being a listening ear. It brings me joy to help individuals reach their goals and be a guide to problems they encounter on life's journey. Everyone heals differently, but to have an additional support on their team is key!

    Clients should leave a session feeling at ease and understood. I provide a welcoming, empathetic environment where clients feel they can be their true selves and dive into the presenting issue without judgement. Using skills from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, and a client-centered approach, my goal is that you meet your own goals, feeling fulfilled, listened to, and empowered.

    What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

    I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.

    My biggest strengths are my empathy and open-mindedness. Through my experience of working with a large range of diagnoses and treatment models, I am able to cater to the needs of the individual while simultaneously making sure the client feels an atmosphere of compassion and empathy. Everyone should have the space discover themselves, feel supported, find inner peace, and grow.
