Hi there, I’m Rea Allarey. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient medical settings. Life can be stressful and overwhelming at times. I help people get through them. Whether you're going through depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, health issues or interpersonal stressors, I can assist you. Everyone deserves to be heard and supported. We can work together to develop effective ways of coping with life’s upheavals. I look forward to working with you!
I once worked with a client who endured multiple losses in different areas of his life and was experiencing grief on many levels, affecting his career and relationships. Through our work together, he began to heal and in turn, his relationships and career also improved.
Clients should expect sessions to follow a cognitive behavioral therapy framework, where sessions are focused on working towards the goal identified at the start of therapy. Sessions are collaborative and clients will leave with coping skills to implement in between sessions.
Though the first session is focused on gathering background history, symptoms that the client is experiencing and information as to why the client is seeking therapy, I also work on building rapport, making sure that I create a space where the client feels comfortable, supported, and heard. In addition, identifying what the client’s goal is for therapy also typically takes place in the first session.
Each person has their own unique experiences in life and these experiences can be difficult to cope with at times. I am motivated by how we get to choose how we deal with these difficulties and helping clients determine what coping skills will be most sustainable for them. Seeing the progress that clients make in coping better with the issues they presented with keeps me going.
