Hello! My name is Taylor Taylor, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working in outpatient therapy as well as the inpatient hospital setting. I have my BSW from James Madison University (Go DUKES!) and my MSW from George Mason University, with recently obtaining my LCSW in the state of Virginia. Through my work I am committed to serving clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, PTSD, grief/loss, life transition and change. As a clinician, I find it a honor to walk alongside clients as they share their story with me. I believe healing is a collaborative work that requires attention, non-judgement, care & grace. As a Social Worker, I believe every human has intrinsic value & worth, through our work together, my hope is that you find that to be true for yourself as well. In my free time you can find me hanging out with my family, spending weekends celebrating life events, & enjoying the outdoors.
I have a client who lost her mom at the age of 22- she had to take care of all of the legal documents, decisions & finances, all while grieving the loss of her mother. My client struggled with various feelings during that time- guilt, sadness, anger, heartbreak and more. She felt the need to heal in a linear way and three years after losing her mother she thought she would need to be "all better", however, through our work together, she was able to discover grace for herself, permission to take time to heal, as well as skills and tools to use to decrease her depressive symptoms and alleviate anxious feelings.
I am timely as well as organized, therefore, you can expect each week to show up to your regularly scheduled session time & get to work! I am comfortable with silence and moving at the pace my clients feel comfortable with- no prior agenda setting, just picking up where my clients feel lead.
I like to use the first session as a time to share what brought you to therapy and to explain to ins and outs of therapy- and to have fun! Going to therapy is a huge step so I want to honor the decision to make growth and progress in one's life.
In simple words, Love. Those who love me and those I love motivate me to share love with the world. People's stories and lives have so much worth & value, that working towards a more joyful and fulfilling life propels me to continue to do the work I do.
Highlights
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first few sessions will be very "get to know you" information, yet, not intrusive or prying. I allow my clients to share their lives at a pace that feels normal and natural to them. As we continue on in our work we will create a treatment plan together that best suits your needs and goals of therapy. For the sake of consistency and predictability, you can always count on us discussing our high and low of the week and something we can look forward to that is to come- I come from a strength based approach & believe holding on to hope moving into our weeks can set us up for success for the days in between sessions.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Psychotherapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I love listening & hearing people's life stories, as well as challenging a new and refreshing perspective when appropriate. I believe my calm presence and graceful approach to therapy allows client's to feel seen & known.
