Coleen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 30 years of experience helping adults navigate life's challenges, transitions, and opportunities for growth. She believes that every person has a story, and sometimes the stories we tell ourselves can keep us feeling stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about the future. That's why she calls herself The Story Shifter—because healing often begins when we discover new ways of understanding our experiences and ourselves. Together, you will explore the experiences that have shaped your life with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment. As you gain insight into old patterns and beliefs, new possibilities can emerge. By shifting perspective, you can find meaning in difficult experiences, reconnect with our strengths, and create a more fulfilling path forward. Coleen's approach is holistic and integrative, honoring the connection between mind and body. She helps clients find clarity, resilience, and a deeper sense of purpose and well-being.
One breakthrough that stands out to me was helping a client move from defining themselves by past wounds and self-doubt to recognizing their resilience, strengths, and capacity for growth. As they developed greater self-awareness and self-compassion, they began making choices that reflected their authentic self and created healthier relationships and a stronger sense of purpose. What made this transformation so meaningful was witnessing the power of a true "story shift"; the moment someone begins to see themselves through a lens of possibility rather than limitation. Those moments remind me that healing often begins when we change the way we understand our experiences and ourselves.
Clients can expect a counseling experience that is warm, collaborative, and tailored to their unique needs and goals. As our work unfolds, we'll explore patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be contributing to current struggles, while also identifying your strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth. I take an active role in the therapy process, offering support, insight, and practical tools while encouraging reflection and self-discovery.
My approach is holistic and integrative, honoring the connection between mind, body, and emotions. Together, we'll work to increase self-awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, shift unhelpful perspectives, and create meaningful change. Therapy is not about fixing you, it's about helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom, heal what no longer serves you, and create a life that feels more authentic, balanced, and fulfilling.
What motivates me to be a therapist is witnessing the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of being truly seen, heard, and understood. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and change, even during life's most difficult seasons. I am inspired by the opportunity to walk alongside people as they navigate challenges, discover new perspectives, and reconnect with their strengths and inner wisdom. Some of the most meaningful moments in my work are seeing clients experience a "story shift"; when they move from feeling stuck in old patterns or pain to embracing new possibilities, purpose, and hope. Being part of that journey is both a privilege and a continual source of inspiration.
