Hi, I’m Jessica. I am a clinical social worker with over ten years of experience. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, overcoming trauma, life adjustment issues, and substance abuse issues. I believe everyone can become overwhelmed, at times, and that it is important to have a safe space to explore the changes you want to make in your life. I also do not want anyone to feel they need to struggle alone. I want to help my clients achieve relief, and achieve their goals. I have a diverse background in both behavioral therapies, and psychotherapy. I use this varied experience to gear our sessions to what works best for you. I believe there is hope for everyone to feel better, and do better. I would love the opportunity to assist you in whatever your goals are!
I once worked with a client who was very timid, and overwhelmed with anxiety, when we began. A lot of this was the result of a difficult upbringing. This was causing many interpersonal issues in her life. Together we helped her find her voice so that she felt she could stand up for herself in her relationships. She was able to eliminate some relationships she did not feel were positive. She was also more easily able to achieve some of her career goals.
I think that every session is unique. I think there are individuals who are struggling with a current life change, and that they just need some extra support, and tools, to overcome this change. I also think some individuals discover that there may be underlying issues that have been causing difficulties, in their life, for some time. We will use a more psychotherapeutic approach to uncover the underlying issues, and a behavioral approach to tackle them.
My first session is my opportunity to get to know you as a person. Mental health is complex, and so many factors contribute to who we are as people. I want to get to know you so we can figure out what method will be most effective in bringing you relief.
I believe our goals are achievable when we have support. I understand that mental health struggles can feel lonely, overwhelming, and sometimes make us feel we cannot have the life we want. I know that recovery, and betterment, are possible. I want to bring hopefulness, and confidence, to those who feel they have lost those things.
