Hello! My name is Connie, as a dedicated therapist, I specialize in client-centered, strength-based, trauma-focused approaches, tailoring my practice to the unique needs of adults navigating the complexities of anxiety, depression, family issues, and the intricacies of the LGBT experience.Taking the first step in starting the process of therapy can be the most difficult. It means addressing pain, allowing vulnerability, and taking an active role in your journey. You are the expert in you and I am here to provide a safe, therapeutic space to work alongside you to uncover deep-rooted patterns and overcome obstacles to help you reach the most fulfilling version of yourself.
I have been working with a client with severe childhood trauma and sexual assault. A recent breakthrough client experienced was her strength in sharing her experience and story. She feared she would be hospitalized due to her triggers and somatic symptoms. Client did not speak of childhood trauma and sexual assault for over 20 years. She is learning and practicing healthy coping skills and working through her want/need to not need the lights on every night she sleeps. She never thought it would be possible to feel safe in the dark.
Clients can expect compassion, empathy, a safe space for them to embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal empowerment as they create a life of fulfillment and authenticity.
First session is typically an introduction of HIPPA confidentiality statement, brief summary of services provided and telehealth guidelines. I always ask my clients to tell me in their words their goals/purpose for therapy. I love to make sure client's feel comfortable by welcoming them to their first session (especially if it's first time therapy.) Session is consisted with empathetic support and open ended questions. Ends with summary, and plans to scheduling.
I have been working in a non-profit organization for almost 7 years. I have worked with clients involved with state/caseworkers and have always felt driven to provide support, guidance and safe space for every client I had. I am confident in the therapist I am and support I provide to every client and it is rewarding and motivating to help others navigate their challenges and find a sense of hope and peace in their lives.
