Elizabeth Bradshaw
My name is Elizabeth Bradshaw, however, I go by Liz or Lizzy. I have worked in the mental health field for eight years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I graduated from James Madison University in 2015 and Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016. I enjoy working with adults to heal various aspects of their lives including depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, severe mental illness, and stress. I take a holistic approach including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), polyvagal theory, and body-centered psychotherapy as I believe strongly in the mind-body connection. When I am not providing therapy, I enjoy spending time with my husband and dog. I also enjoy reading, learning new things, and various craft projects.
Clients have indicated that they have felt more connected to themselves and have learned more effective coping skills to manage anxiety, depression, and regular every day life. Clients have also reported healthy shifts and conflict resolution in their relationships.
I take the first session or two to get to know my clients and for them to get to know me. I always offer my clients the opportunity to process anything they feel they need to talk about and discuss. Some clients prefer for me to lead the sessions, which I also can provide.
Our first session will look like me getting to know you, your history, and what brings you to therapy currently. I will ask about your childhood, family, current relationships, and goals during the first session.
I always knew I wanted to be a social worker since a young age and I knew I wanted to help people. I want my clients to experience growth and to find meaning in their lives so that they will no longer need therapy.
