Haley Engelman
Haley is a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work in Virginia. She is skilled in supporting children, teens, and families as they navigate life’s challenges. With extensive experience working with neurodivergent children and those with behavioral needs, Haley takes a whole-child, whole-family approach to care. Her background spans clinical, community, and virtual settings, allowing her to meet each child and family where they are and provide support tailored to their unique needs.
I deeply enjoyed working with a previous client who struggled with communicating their needs and frequently resorted to anger, aggression, and other harmful behaviors. It was deeply rewarding to get to know and understand her and to work with her to find ways to communicate, find support, and get help in moments that were challenging for her. Through our work together, she was able to thrive in her family dynamic, with peers, and in a general education classroom.
At the beginning of the counseling process, we will work talk about what brought you to Lifebulb and what goals or hopes you have for yourself. These goals will be the center of our work together. Our sessions will be client-led, where you can discuss anything that you need to, such as what challenges arise in your day-to-day life or how you are working to achieve your goals.
Our first session, and likely for a few sessions following, will be focused on getting to know you, understanding what brought you to Lifebulb, and ensuring that you understand the therapeutic process. We will work together to build a safe and comfortable space and determine how we want to work together.
I became a social worker because I am passionate about working with, supporting, and helping people. I love getting to know others and their story.Being a therapist allows me to get to know others and find unique ways to help them through struggles. Getting to work with clients so that they can be the happiest version of themselves is the most rewarding thing in the world.
