Hello, I’m Keshia Slack-Ingram and I’m Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has 20 years of experience partnering with adults and couples seeking help with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship issues. I have completed my Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology at Hampton University, my Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling at South University and am in the process of completing my PHD in advance human studies.
I once worked with a client for about six-eight months who struggled enormously with stress, anxiety, and obsessive thoughts. Through our work together, she was able to face her insecurities, triggers and fears, adapt viable coping skills and regain control of her anxiety
Though every person’s situation is unique, I generally approach the counseling process from a Psychodynamic, person centered and reality based framework to help my clients understand their underlying, subconscious motivations for their actions, both positive and negative.
My first session is usually a brainstorming session. I strive to allow the client to express their wants and needs then collaboratively work together to create a plan for advancement. It’s important that my clients understand that counseling is a process that can work for them, so we’ll spend time tackling a specific issue.
It important for my clients to know they are not alone, damage or broken but instead are survivor who are cultivating their own happiness and lives. I am a people person and believe it important for everyone to feel seen and heard. Its my goal to establish a warm and caring relationship with you in order to assist in building on your strengths and better collaborate with you towards meeting your goals and living the meaningful life you value and desire. Its my objective to help you achieve balance mentally, physically, and emotionally.
