I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has over 13 years of experience in the field. I have worked in various settings which include the following: in home therapist, outreach counselor, behavioral health advocate, acting team leader, clinical supervisor, senior clinician, off-site field instructor, and field liaison. I have worked with various age ranges from 5 years old to older adults. I have conducted groups, family sessions, individual therapy, case management, and couples counseling. I am bilingual in which I speak Spanish. I have trained at the School of Social Work at Rutgers University with a specialization in children and families. I have completed education at the undergraduate level at Kean University in which I graduated with a dual major with the University of Medicine and Dentistry- School of Health-Related Professions in which I received a bachelor's degree in psychology and psychiatric rehabilitation. I received an Associate's of Science Degree in Psychosocial Rehabilitation. I hold a certificate for school counseling. I have trained in DBT, CBT, MI, solution focused, trauma informed care, as well as various other modalities. I am compassionate, dedicated, empathic, and knowledgeable. I have assisted a vast number of individuals throughout my career in which I hope to be able to assist you as well.
A breakthrough that was significant to me was when I had been able to provide support to a younger client who had been depressed in which he found that it was hard to move forward in his life after he experienced a significant loss in his life. We were able to work collaboratively together in which we developed his social skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, and coping skills. The young person found confidence that he would be able to begin to move forward in his life. He began to take steps in directions that he had not tried in the past such as: working and forming new bonds with people that fully supported him.
Clients will be able to expect to receive services that are tailored towards their needs. The interventions that I would provide consists of the following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused approach, trauma informed care, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
The first session would be a relaxed setting where I would be learning more about the client. I do not rush through a process and want to ensure that I am able to fully gain a broad perspective of the client’s needs. I will be working to ensure that a rapport is developed which is essential to the counseling relationship.
The motivation that drives me in my practice is having the ability to support persons on where they are at in life. I constantly strive to better improve my practice through continuing education and collaborating with professionals in the field of social work/mental health. I find joy and satisfaction knowing that I can be of service to another person during this transformative period in their life.
