About Me

Hiya! My name is Kayden Sarria and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New Jersey with several years of experience working in various settings ranging from inpatient hospital, in-home services, and community based services for survivors of sexual assault. Everyone deserves to find a therapeutic space they feel safe, heard, and valued in to embark on their healing journey. I am here to help folks who are experiencing challenging life experiences, feelings and/or emotions to find healthy and meaningful ways to manage their stress levels. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, gender identity, sexuality, PTSD and/or more, I am here to help. In our sessions we will work together to help you overcome the daily hardships you continue to experience. This is your journey, you deserve to feel in control of it, that is what I am here to help you do. Let’s get to work!

FAQs

I once worked with a client for 6 months who experienced frequent suicidal ideation and self-harm at the start of our time together. After our time together was up, this client had been 5 months free of self-harm and SI and was able to see value and more positivity in their life.

While every person’s situation is unique to themselves and their journey, I generally use a psychodynamic framework that allows me to help clients get a better understanding of their mind &and body and the underlying motivation for their behaviors.

First sessions are typically seen as an "interview" where the therapist gets to know all about the client. First sessions are how us therapists get a better understanding of who you folks are and how we can best support you. In addition to that, I see first sessions as an opportunity for not just the therapist to get to know the client but also for the client to get to know the therapist. Therapy is only truly effective when a client feels safe with the clinician they are working with.

I had the opportunity to grow up in a family of social workers. I was exposed to what I like to call the "helping field" from the time I was 6 years old. My whole life I have known I wanted to help people. My 6 year old dream is what motivates me every day to be a therapist.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My goal after sessions is to ensure my client walks away feeling confident in themselves and the skills that they have learned throughout the session. I want my clients to walk away feeling like they were heard, valued, and seen during our time together. To achieve this my counseling style is genuine, supportive, compassionate, patient, humanistic, collaborative and integrative. I’m proud of you for taking this first step in your healing journey and I look forward to working with you!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

While I may be the professional, you are the expert when it comes to yourself. You can expect for me to tailor a treatment plan that will be specific to you and your needs. Different evidence-based modalities that may be used for your treatment course include but are not limited to, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, client-centered therapy and EMDR.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a history of working with children and adolescents in partial hospitalization and in-home settings and a history of working with adults in an outpatient setting. I have worked with clients with a wide range of issues such as; anxiety, depression, anger management, suicidal ideation, self-harm, self-esteem, PTDS, relationship conflict, LGBTQ+ issues, and transgender affirming care. While I do work with all age ranges I have a special passion for working with adolescents and young adults ages 13-25.
