About Me

Hi! I'm Kirsten Reid. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey with several years of experience. As a Mental Health Therapist, I have worked in diverse settings, including Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Traditional Outpatient programs. I hope to help clients navigate life challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem issues. And also provide them with the tools and strategies needed to enhance their well-being and cultivate lasting positive change. If you are seeking a therapist who will support you on your path to healing and personal growth, I am here to help. Together, we can work towards achieving your therapy goals, unlocking your potential, and creating a life filled with resilience, empowerment, and well-being.

FAQs

I had a client whom I worked with for months, struggled with depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. While working with this client; we identified triggers & maladaptive coping skills, new healthy coping and grounding skills, and provided a space to open up and express herself without judgment. This individual noticed an improvement in her life and more confidence in her ability to handle life challenges. The client also mentioned for the first time feeling heard and validated.

Every person’s situation is unique, I like to approach the counseling process by first building a rapport and identifying your goals. From there we will work together to reach goals and make changes.

Typically first sessions with me include getting to know you, identifying what brings you into therapy and what you would like to get out of coming to therapy.

My motivation to be a therapist comes from wanting to help others since I was young. As well as a genuine desire to see people flourish, and the gratification that comes from witnessing individuals grow and thrive in their lives.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am a firm believer in the power of a client-centered approach. I recognize that each individual is unique and has their own set of strengths and needs. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment that empowers my clients to actively participate and work collaboratively to establish therapy goals, that align with their aspirations.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength-Based approaches, and Sand Tray Therapy. These methods and tools will help you challenge negative thought patterns, develop resilience, explore values, process trauma, enhance motivation, set goals, and tap into your strengths for transformative healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my biggest strengths are my compassion, empathy, as well as my ability to create a safe and supportive space for you to share and heal. I have improved these skills through the years by working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual and group therapy. I have worked with clients presenting with a wide variety of concerns including; depression, anxiety, substance use/addiction, trauma, social anxiety, mood disorders, and self-esteem issues. While I work in a general way with all ages and a variety of groups, I have mainly worked with individuals ages 12 and up.
