About Loma Gulley
My name is Loma Gulley, LPC. I am licensed in my home state of Virginia. I have been in the mental health field for nearly 8 years. My preference is working with individuals, face to face in the office setting, virtually upon limited requests. I always provide an empathetic, warm, judgement-free space with a genuine drive to support individuals to be their healthiest self. My background includes inpatient and outpatient services, trauma recovery, anxiety, depression and life stage adjustments. I lean towards psychodynamic therapy which focuses on unconscious patterns, past experiences and relationships. I recognize the strength it takes to reach out for support and look forward to being a partner in your personal journey. Lets sit back and get comfortable while processing your life, work, dreams, obstacles and future. Although I work with adults of all ages, my focus has been 25 years and older.

One of the biggest breakthroughs I've had with a client was overcoming debilitating social anxiety. After treatment, this young lady was able to leave her home confidently, attend events and join a sports team. She realized her natural talents and extinguished the idea that she was always being watched and judged. Exposure therapy and CBT helped this young lady to put over-thinking, catastrophizing and low confidence to rest.
I will listen, validate and provide realistic intervention and reflection. Together, we will identify your goals and develop a plan for achievement, breaking down barriers while focusing on your needs and natural strengths.
You can expect a warm and receptive environment where we move at a comfortable pace for you. We will build an initial rapport. Our first session will include information gathering of current concerns and history. Together, we will start the process of developing treatment goals based on your individual needs.
My motivation to be a therapist comes from my personal experiences with healing, and a desire for dismantling stigmas around mental health and being an active part of individual and community healing.

The counseling process will look different for everyone. You can expect to be treated in an empathetic, supportive, non-judgement, safe environment with person-centered care. Expect genuine feedback, gentle challenging, and some humor. No one knows what you need better than you and together we will identify tools for achieving your goals. Rest assured, if we find we are not a good match I will ethically assist with providing referral assistance to keep you on your road to success.

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Psycho-education, Psychodynamic Therapy and Trauma-Focused Therapy.

My biggest strengths are emotional intelligence, consistency and cultural competency. I take pride in assisting clients to dig deeper, move through discomfort at a safe pace and gain insightfulness during the healing journey.
