I was able to assist a client in developing boundaries with his family. This was particularly a memorable breakthrough because we worked together to break down the cultural factors of LatinX men, standing up to elders, and self-advocacy rather then suffering in silence. I was able to utilize items I found in my office to put boundaries in a way that my client was able to understand and fully grasp the concept of boundary development and implementation rather then feeling guilt and shame for "saying no".
Client's can expect a counselor that challenges them, builds them up, and pushes them to be the best version of themselves that they can be. I utilize a collaborative approach with counseling and establish a genuine relationship with my client's making them as much a part of their progress as I am.
A first session with me will include lots of questions. I will ask about your current struggles, what you want yourself to look like once sessions have terminated, and what you look for in a therapist. I will provide education on the therapy process and what your role in your sessions will be.
I am driven to be a therapist due to past personal experiences with both my own mental health and close family members. I want to help people advocate for themselves, learn skills to feel confident and capable gain mastery over their experiences.
