About Me

Hello I am Michele Heyman, welcome to my page! I am happy to have the oportunity to introduce myself to you. I am licenced in New Mexico and Texas with 20 years of professional counseling under my belt. I have experience in helping clients with depression, stress and anxiety, communication and interpersonal skills, relationship issues, motivation, self esteem and life transitions. I have worked for many years with people from all walks of life including first responders, medical professionals and law enforcement. I work well with people who are motivated and ready to create healthy changes! I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your specific needs. I am open, honest and a generally grateful, happy human. It takes courage to to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards creating that change. I am honored to be a part of your journey.


I recently worked with a client who was struggling with her own identity due to being in a controlling, toxic relationship. As the relationship ended she was "lost" with only the opinions and negative self talk/thoughts that came from the relationship. We worked together for several months, challenging that negative self talk, exploring who she was, what her opinions and her thoughts were, what she loves and wants and the things that bring her joy. I am happy to say that she did amazing work, letting the negative self talk and faulty beliefs from that past go... she now has new friends, a new career and is able to see the joy in her world.

Every person's counseling journey is unique, so I do my best to meet each person where they are and work with them at their own pace. I am empathetic and supportive in my counseling style. My clients can expect an open and encouraging process, some growth and learning, hopefully even some laughing...

First sessions are really about getting to know each other, and for me that is all about allowing you to tell your story. Where you have been, where you are now and where you'd like to see your story go from here. I might ask a few question and I welcome yours as well. Together we will begin to explore possibilities, set goals and create a working plan to get you where you want to go.

I've always know from a very young age that I wanted to be in a "helping" profession. I had thought that might be in the medical field, but then life happened and I took a couple of different paths that eventually led me to counseling. what motivates me is being able to help others and then watch their journey... I get to be a part of supporting people as they move from away from where they dont want to be closer to where they do want to be. It is very rewarding.


    What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

    I work hard to really "hear" your story, not just listen. My hope is that you will leave a session feeling heard, supported and motivated to do good work. You'll be given tools for your toolbbox to use when working on your goals. Sometimes there might even be "homework" to keep you engaged and working between your sessions.

    In our work together we will explore the areas that are not working for you AND the ones that are! we will identify your strengths and build on those to help move you closer to your goals. My hope is that it feels comfortable and safe, non-judgmental in our sessions and you learn something new every time.

    What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

    I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy

    Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

    I think my biggest strength is that I am simply a human who truly loves what I do. I have had the highest highs and the lowest lows, been stuck and unstuck just like everyone else. I bring my real honest human self to every session. Because of this, am able to connect easily and can see the bigger picture. I support my clients in finding their way through the lows and the stuck places and celebrate with them their sucesses when they get to the other side. I see each individual as a gift and it is a priveledge to do the work I do.
