Hello, My name is Melissa Sutherland. I am a licensed professional counselor and clinical supervisor. I have been in the counseling field almost 25 years. My counseling journey has included working in private practice, colleges, hospital, outpatient programs, and employee assistant programs. I have also worked in domestic violence agencies. I have worked with children to older adults. My passion is helping people achieve their goals and live their best life. I believe we are all connected as humans and everyone deserves to thrive in life.
It has been very rewarding to work with and witness veterans and other trauma survivors recover and live their lives to the fullest. It is rewarding to witness someone go from avoiding most of life to living it fully.
Sessions will be tailored to each individual based on their situation and concerns. I use a Cognitive Behavioral lens to help people examine and challenge any thoughts and believes that may hold them back from living life as they desire.
In goal in the fist session is to get to know the person and gain an understanding of their concerns and their goals for therapy. We will work together to develop a treatment plan to achieve one's goals. Developing a working relationship, based on trust is important.
I believe everyone has the right to enjoy their life. I enjoy helping others achieve their personal, relationship, educational, and career goals. I find joy in seeing others thrive.
