About Sherie Reed

I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 10 years of nursing experience and a passion for helping individuals improve their mental health and overall quality of life. My clinical background has provided me with experience caring for patients across diverse populations and with a wide range of medical and psychiatric needs.

As a psychiatric provider, I take a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing concerns such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and other psychiatric concerns. I believe effective mental-health treatment should be individualized and based on each person's unique experiences, goals, and needs.

My approach combines medication management, education, supportive interventions, and collaboration with the client.

FAQs

One of the most meaningful breakthroughs I have helped a client achieve was watching them move from feeling
overwhelmed and discouraged by their mental-health symptoms to feeling more confident and in control of their life.
Through consistent follow-up, medication management, patient education, and collaboration with psychotherapy, we were
able to identify the factors contributing to their symptoms and develop a treatment approach that worked for them. Over
time, the client began noticing improvements in their mood, anxiety, motivation, and ability to function in their daily life.

My counseling process begins with getting to know **you as a person—not just your diagnosis or symptoms**. During our
first sessions, we will talk about what brought you to treatment, what you have been experiencing, your personal history,
current stressors, and the goals you would like to work toward.

From there, we will develop an individualized treatment approach based on your needs. Sessions may include exploring
thoughts and behaviors, identifying patterns that may be contributing to distress, developing healthier coping strategies,
improving communication and relationships, and learning practical ways to manage symptoms such as anxiety, depression.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brought you to
treatment. We’ll talk about your current concerns, symptoms, personal and family history, relationships, work or school,
stressors, and how your mental health may be affecting your daily life.

We’ll also discuss your goals for treatment and what you hope to get out of working together. I’ll ask questions to better
understand the full picture—not just the symptoms, but the person experiencing them.

If medication management is appropriate, we’ll review your current medications, previous treatment experiences, medical
history, and any concerns you may have about starting or changing medication.

What motivates me to be a PMHNP is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives during some of their
most vulnerable moments. After more than 10 years in nursing, I realized that caring for someone's physical health is only
one part of helping them become truly well. Mental health can affect every aspect of a person's life—their relationships,
confidence, work, education, and ability to enjoy life.

I became a PMHNP because I wanted to be able to provide patients with more than medication. I wanted to listen, educate,
advocate, and help people understand what they are experiencing without feeling judged or defined by a diagnosis.
I am especially motivated by seeing patients regain stability and begin believing in themselves again.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to leave sessions with a greater understanding of their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and mental-health needs. My goal is for each person to feel heard, supported, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward improvement.

Depending on your individual needs, sessions may help you develop practical strategies for managing anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD symptoms, mood changes, and other mental-health concerns. We will work together to identify what is contributing to your symptoms and develop a treatment approach that aligns with your goals.

Most importantly, I want clients to leave feeling that they have clarity, practical tools, and a realistic plan for moving forward—rather than feeling like they are navigating their challenges alone.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Talk Therapy, Medication Education, and Life Transition Support.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My greatest strengths as a clinician are my ability to combine strong clinical knowledge with compassionate, individualized care. With more than 10 years of nursing experience and advanced training as a PMHNP-BC, I bring a well-rounded perspective to psychiatric treatment. I pride myself on listening carefully, identifying the factors contributing to a patient's symptoms, and developing treatment plans that are both evidence-based and realistic. I am particularly passionate about patient education, medication management, safety assessment, cultural awareness, and helping patients feel comfortable discussing concerns that may be difficult to share. My goal is for every patient to feel heard, respected, supported, and empowered throughout their treatment.
