About Me

I am a Resident in Counseling with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I offer a unique perspective with an extensive and varied background from my 28-year career in the United States Air Force in fighter aircraft maintenance. I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, and other strengths-based modalities such as DBT, person-centered, and solution-focused therapies. I enjoy multi-dimensional approaches to treatment founded on evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s individual needs. I have experience working with diverse populations in a Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic as well as providing equine-assisted psychotherapy to military members their families, and veterans. I am a passionate advocate for client rights and believe in the power of a supportive therapeutic relationship to foster healing and growth. I meet each client where they are in their journey toward living their best life. In my free time I enjoy DIY home projects, camping, Jeepin' & beach time with my son & three bulldogs.

FAQs

I had a client who refused therapy after an involuntary in-patient stay. she struggled with hallucinations, active suicidal ideation, and depression. She reluctantly agreed to speak to me, and though disclosing her trauma was painful, she returned for follow-on sessions each week. She confided that she was secretly consuming large quantities of alcohol to silence the voices, but she stopped to be able to attend our sessions where she felt safe, seen, and accepted. She kept showing up for herself knowing she mattered. She eventually began working, socializing, and rebuilding her sense of self apart from her past experiences.

I am here for YOU to offer supportive listening, goal setting, humor, and partner with you to provide a pathway toward healing. I recognize the complexity and challenges our life experiences bring; clients can expect me to provide a solution-focused approach to unpacking and processing their stressors.

I believe we are each the sum of our collective life experiences starting with our family of origin. I will want to understand your history, the story of YOU from family of origin to present, but at your speed and as you are willing/able.

I have seen the overwhelming need for access to appropriate mental health care that feels valuable to the individual. Therapists are not "one size fits all", and the connection must be authentic for healing to occur. I feel my experiences have equipped me to provide a service to facilitate growth and healing for others.
