Vilma Ramos
Hi there, I’m Vilma Ramos. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with several years of experience working in clinical psychology settings, ranging from an inpatient psychiatric hospital to substance use disorder treatment programs. I help people who are easily overwhelmed to learn distress tolerance techniques and stress management skills. Together, we can strategize about what to do to help you to manage your emotions. We'll use a whole self-approach, addressing the needs of your mind, body and spirit. I also integrate behavioral, psychodynamic and exploration into childhood, to help you develop a stronger relationship with yourself. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hang-ups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!
I once worked with a client for about four months who struggled enormously with social anxiety. Through our work together, they were able to face their fears and become successful in working and stay focused on their goals of school achievements.
Though every person’s situation is unique, I generally approach the counseling process from a Psychodynamic and Behavioral framework to help my clients understand their underlying, subconscious motivations for their actions, both positive and negative.
My first session isn’t just a time for demographic gathering. It’s important that my clients understand that counseling is a process that can work for them, so we’ll spend time tackling a specific issue and immediate problem solving.
I have been interested in the mind and how it works ever since High School. Additionally, I am the type of person who has always lent a hand to those in need. Through it all, I've learned to love seeing people discover their true potential and succeed, be it a big or small goal.
