Jessica Callaway
Hello, I started as a Resident in Counseling in 2022 when I graduated from Capella University with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my time in the counseling field I have conducted group/couples counseling, and worked with individuals from age five to sixty five. I have experience with anger managment, career advising, and trauma centered care. Using a mixture of mindfulness, art, storytelling, and thought awareness I help people build emotional intelligence, emotional management, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Whether it is anxiety, depression, PTSD, or ADHD I work alongside my clients to help them overcome life's obstacles and live the life they want to have.
One client I had was working through a difficult discision of how to manage conflict and process a divorce. The client struggled with confrontation, including not being able to say "No" when others asked her for anything and avoided speaking her mind if she thought it would lead to an argument. The client worked to understand the cause of her fear, build healthy boundaries, and how to speak her mind.
The counseling process will look a little different depending on the client's needs. We will work together to create goals and each session will work towards a goal. In each session we will use what is happening in your life currently while bringing in the past as needed to resolve conflicts and overcome life happenstances.
For the first session, the main goal is getting to know each other. The first session will typically be longer to allow for understanding the clients history and to provide time to discuss information such as confidenitality and my approach to counseling.
I am motivated to be a therapist because I enjoy supporting people who are brave enough to take a step into counseling and want to make a positive difference for themselves or thier loved ones.

By fostering this connection, I aim to help clients gain clarity, feel empowered, and leave each session with a sense of progress and hope.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy & Arts and Play Therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My greatest strenghts are helping people to feel comfortable and adding humor to lighten the mood. Humor may not seem appropriate for counsleing, however there can always be room within the counseling session to find time for a small laugh.
