Brian enjoys spending time with close friends, playing games, and watching his favorite sports teams, even when they cause him suffering.
I have worked with clients dealing with significant impairment in their day today due to OCD. Helping them break away from that day to day struggle towards more stable functioning was meaningful to me.
I often compare the counseling journey to a road trip. You want to go to a different place then where you are and my job is to help you get there! There may be twists and turns, unexpected side quests, or roadblocks we don't expect, but that journey can be crucial in arriving at the destination.
The first session typically includes getting to know the issue(s) you're struggling with, offering understanding and empathy, and mapping out the initial therapeutic process, including the intake process, background information, and important logistics. This session is also a tremendous time to get a sense of my style as a therapist and discern if you feel we can work well together.
From a young age I have been interested in helping others. Therapy gives me a means of doing that in an impactful, profound sense that can have a lasting impact.
