FAQs
One of the most meaningful breakthroughs I’ve experienced was with a middle school student who was engaging in self-harming behaviors as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions. When we first began working together, the student had difficulty trusting adults and expressing feelings verbally. Through consistent support, a nonjudgmental approach, and the establishment of a safe and predictable counseling environment, the student gradually began to open up about the emotions underlying their behavior. Together, we explored healthier ways to manage stress.
Clients can expect a structured, evidence-based approach delivered within a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. I prioritize establishing a therapeutic alliance built on trust, respect, and empathy, ensuring that clients feel understood and validated. My approach is collaborative and goal-oriented, focusing on assessment of presenting concerns, identification of treatment goals, and implementation of interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs.
The first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. During this session, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns or questions you might have. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This initial meeting also gives you a chance to learn more about my counseling style and ask any questions. Together, we’ll begin creating a plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.
I am motivated to be a therapist by a deep commitment to supporting individuals, families, and children as they navigate life’s challenges. Witnessing the resilience of clients and helping them develop the skills to cope, grow, and thrive inspires me every day. I find fulfillment in creating a safe, empathetic space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Ultimately, my drive comes from a desire to make a positive, lasting impact on the lives of those I serve, fostering growth, understanding, and hope.
