About Courtney Putt

Courtney is a Licensed Social Worker and certified perinatal mental health professional located in New Jersey. Her passion is working with couples and families, and as well as individuals healing from trauma, OCD, anxiety and perinatal/postpartum mood disorders. Courtney's ideal clients are those who are deeply motivated for change and whose main goal in therapy is to seek out and become the best version of themselves. She strives to meet my clients wherever they are on this journey, drawing from a number of evidence-based therapeutic modalities.

FAQs

I have worked with numerous couples and every breakthrough they achieve feels significant because they often show up in despair and ready to separate. Even in the most broken relationships, I have seen dynamics shift significantly once each partner has been given the chance to feel heard, is given tools to understand their unhealthy relationship patterns, and has taken accountability for their own role in the cycle.

I tailor each session to meet your needs for that specific week. At the beginning of each session, we will spend a few minutes laying out the foundation for a productive meeting by tying up any loose ends from the previous session and then formulating your objectives for the current one.

I pride myself in getting to know my clients well, so they don't just feel like a number. On any given week, we might find ourselves going deep into a specific topic or issue that you are having, or, alternatively, we might keep things light and focus on general coping skills. I will never push you to go where you aren't ready to go, but I will hold you accountable to yourself. I check in often to make sure you are satisfied with the direction we are going, and I'm always ready to pivot to something new if we find ourselves stuck.

Your first session will involve basic introductory questions about what brings you to therapy and why now. We will explore and define your personal goals for entering therapy, and you will have time to ask any questions you might have about the process. It will be our opportunity to see if we will be a good match before we move into deeper work together.

My motivation as a therapist comes from a deep desire to help others feel that they do not have to go through this alone, that they are understood and accepted as they are, and that there is nothing "wrong" with them. Everyone deserves the chance to flourish individually and within their relationships. That's what keeps me showing up each day!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Striking a balance between meeting clients where they are and helping them make difficult changes to move closer to their goals; fostering a sense of safety and empathy in sessions; and broadening clients' understanding of their emotional and attachment-based needs.
