I had helped an adolescent client struggling with their gender, move towards accepting what they cannot change We did this through grounding, self-soothing, tolerating some discomfort and challenging distorted thoughts. That felt particularly significant, as their issue was underlying a lot of their anxiety and mood struggles.
My clients can expect to feel emotionally safe and to be met where they are.
A structured but flowing conversation to get a better understanding of what someone has been struggling with, and discussing a plan at the end of what could be helpful.
I am motivated by my values system that reflects wanting to help people, and my genuine curiosity in mental health.
