Dr. Tiffany Stephens is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience, licensed in Virginia and North Carolina. She works with clients to refocus on themselves, manage anxiety, and prevent burnout. Through a strength-based approach, she addresses the needs of the mind, body, and spirit while guiding clients toward balance. Dr. Stephens utilizes a collaborative, solution-focused, and constructivist perspective, with cognitive behavioral therapy serving as the foundation for helping clients shift toward new ways of thinking. Her ultimate goal is to support individuals in accepting, identifying, and moving forward in their personal growth.

One breakthrough that stands out was with a client who carried a history of self-doubt and negative self-talk. Through our work, they begin to recognize that this inner critic was not the reality, just a learned voice.

In a first session, my priority is to create a safe and welcoming environment. I start by briefly reviewing confidentiality, some of the intake questions, and answering any questions the client may have about the therapeutic process. I also invite them to share what brought them in and what they hope to gain from therapy.

Being able to witness people discover strengths they did not realize they had and seeing small shifts lead to meaningful change motivated me to become a therapist and it continues to fuel me after all these years.

    Seeking therapy can feel scary or even stigmatized, but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome negative mindsets and habits holding you back. In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. We will also go over assessments and policies. I want to hear what goals you have for yourself in your journey to healing. This will help us create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Let's start this journey together!

    What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

    I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy & Solution-Focused Therapy.

    I believe in meeting individuals where they are, listening to the goals that the individual wants to accomplish, and assisting with developing additional goals for therapy from there. I keep an open mind and actively listen to clients. I have worked with a vast population of individuals, ranging from children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, seeking therapeutic support and interventions for ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, death and dying, grief, and loss.
