FAQs
Helping clients to recognize that their pain means something. Everything that gets clinically labeled as a "symptom" is really a signal, a healthy response to an unhealthy circumstance. In the cases where clients and I have worked to interpret what these signals are trying to tell us, we've often been able to make sense of why they are feeling as they do and what we can do to heal the unhealthy situations they may find themselves in.
Clients can expect the session to be tailored to what might work best for them as an individual. Some clients seek more guidance and feedback while others thrive in a space where they are free to explore their thoughts as they come. Understanding and processing our past is very valuable; however, I tend to find it most helpful to focus on the present and what can be done here in this moment that can have the greatest impact on creating the future we want for ourselves and loved ones.
In our first session, the focus will be on figuring out together how therapy can be most helpful for you. We will examine what brings you here, and what you are hoping to accomplish. We'll look at the moments from your life that have been most impactful, both in painful and positive ways. We will try to identify what you find most important in life; what makes life worth being present for, and highlight why you are worth putting in the work in therapy.
To provide a safe, collaborate space for someone where they can be free to just be themselves. To validate experiences, and to help people recognize that happiness isn't a lost, buried treasure we have to spend our whole lives trying to find. Happiness is a skill that can be honed, and each of us deserves it.
Highlights
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Clients can expect to feel heard and validated. They can expect to have a collaborate provider act as a guide on a journey of self-exploration, and can expect to leave each session knowing that they are the expert on themselves. Clients will work to realize they possess the answers to the questions the may have, and therapy works to help them discover these answers and determine how to take the best course of action in response.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT),Existential Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing & Trauma-Focused Therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I believe that most clients feel comfortable around me, as I have a very calm and encouraging demeanor. Even if we aren't able to collaborative solve a present issue in a given session, clients tend to report feeling more relaxed and uplifted by the end of the appointment. I make a point to actively seek the most current research and knowledge as it relates to the needs of my clients which helps clients to best understand what it is they are facing and how we can get through it together.
