FAQs
A breakthrough that was especially meaningful to me involved working with a client who carried decades of sexual trauma and long-standing substance use. When we began, they struggled deeply with shame, instability, and a lack of self-worth. Through consistent attunement, trauma-informed work, and building emotional regulation skills, they slowly began to see themselves with more compassion and separate their identity from what they had survived. Over time, they moved toward sobriety, secured meaningful employment and entered a healthy relationship.
Clients can expect a counseling process that is collaborative, structured, and supportive. In our early sessions, we focus on understanding your history, current concerns, and goals. From there, I combine practical skill-building with deeper insight work to help you understand patterns, manage emotions, and create meaningful change. Sessions are paced to feel safe and manageable, with an emphasis on consistency, openness, and helping you take an active role in your growth. Overall, you can expect a grounded, compassionate space designed to help.
Your first session with me is focused on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to gain from the process. We’ll talk about your history, current concerns, and any immediate symptoms or stressors you’re experiencing. I’ll also explain how I work, what you can expect from our sessions, and give you space to ask questions. The pace is comfortable and conversational, there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for.
What motivates me to be a therapist is the privilege of helping people make sense of their experiences and reconnect with parts of themselves they’ve lost along the way. I’m driven by the moments when someone begins to see their own strength, challenge old patterns, or feel understood in a way they haven’t before. Being able to walk alongside people in their most vulnerable moment and witness their growth, resilience, and self-discovery is what keeps me committed to this work.
