About Sarah Sperduto
Hi, Iβm Sarah Sperduto, MA, LPC, NCC. Iβm a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adolescents, adults, and couples ages 12 through 65+. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, talking openly, and working through difficult experiences without feeling judged. I take a compassionate, honest, and collaborative approach and believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process. I use approaches including EMDR and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while tailoring treatment to each clientβs individual needs and goals.
FAQs
When you work with me, you can expect a supportive and judgment-free environment where you can be open and honest about reminder that healing is possible, even when someone has been carrying the weight of their experiences for a long time. I don’t believe therapy should feel like someone simply telling you what you should do. Instead, we’ll work together to understand what is happening, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop tools that you can actually use in your everyday life.
Your first session is really about getting to know each other. Of course, we’ll go through the necessary intake forms and talk about what brings you to therapy and how I can best support you, but I don’t want the session to feel like we’re simply going down a checklist of questions. I want to get to know you as a person, not just the reasons you’re seeking therapy. We’ll have a genuine conversation about your life, your experiences, what’s important to you, and what you hope to get out of therapy. I’ll also share a little about myself and how I work so you can get a better sense of who I am as your therapist. Think of the first session as two people getting to know each other and beginning to build a relationship. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, heard, and welcomed from the very beginning. There’s no expectation that you have to tell me everything right away. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you and start wherever you feel ready.
What I love most about being a therapist is being able to help people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I value being someone a client can turn to when they feel like they don’t have anyone else to talk to or don’t know where else to turn. I love being able to listen, support, and remind someone that they don’t have to go through things alone. Sometimes, therapy is about working through something difficult, and other times, it’s simply about having someone there who truly listens and understands. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing a client’s mood change throughout a session even if it’s just a small smile, a moment of relief, or a new sense of hope. I want my clients to leave our sessions feeling a little lighter, more hopeful, and more supported than when they walked in. Knowing that I was able to make someone’s day a little better, help them feel understood, or give them hope when they needed it most is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
