About Wendy Wasserstrom

Wendy Wasserstrom is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about counseling and deeply committed to helping others navigate life’s challenges. She feels fortunate to do work that allows her to support individuals in reaching their goals, building coping skills, and developing greater confidence in managing life’s stressors. One of Wendy’s strengths is her ability to quickly establish a genuine connection with clients and create a comfortable, supportive environment, especially for those who may feel uncertain or uncomfortable about starting therapy. She understands that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience and takes an individualized approach to treatment, adapting her methods to meet each person’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. Wendy believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is built through partnership and collaboration. She works alongside her clients to better understand their needs, identify meaningful goals, and develop practical strategies that support lasting growth and positive change.

FAQs

An example of a break through with a client was helping someone learn to break core beliefs and maladaptive thinking. We worked on shifting low self worth, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts to identify strengths, feeling hopeful for the future, adding positive daily habits, and experiencing more resiliency when life stressors presented themselves.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe therapy is a partnership where we work together to identify what matters most to you and develop practical tools to support your emotional well-being. Each session is tailored to your needs, creating space for reflection, healing, and growth at your own pace. In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, supportive conversation where we’ll get to know each other, talk about what brings you to therapy, and begin setting goals that feel meaningful and achievable. In our sessions, we’ll begin with a relaxed check-in or light topic to ease into the conversation and set a comfortable tone for our work together. I take a conversational approach to therapy, blending education, skill-building, reflective dialogue, and mindful challenges throughout our discussions. I truly admire my clients for dedicating time to prioritize themselves, whether that’s for an hour a week or more, depending on your needs.

In our first session, I’ll ask a series of questions to gain a deeper understanding of your unique situation. This can be intimidating for some individuals, so we will proceed at a pace that is comfortable for you. Ultimately, this helps me better support you as we move forward. The goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable and begin building a strong rapport. Together, we’ll then define goals and objectives that are tailored to your needs. Above all, these sessions are for you!

At the core of who I am, I’m an advocate. Throughout my years in human services, I’ve seen how many people need someone in their corner—whether they’re navigating systems like schools, courts, workplaces, families, or relationships. Just as often, they need an advocate to help recognize their potential. Helping people was something I always wanted to do. I find deep fulfillment in partnering with clients to uncover strengths, understand thoughts and behaviors, and support them through their journey of change.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first therapy session we will review confidentiality and logistics, discuss your goals and expectations, and begin getting to know one another. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that allows you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy & Trauma-Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths is being able to create a safe, warm, and supportive environment where my clients feel truly heard and understood. Another strength is my flexibility. I recognize that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy. If something isn’t working, we’ll adjust and find new ways together. I enjoy collaborating with clients to personalize strategies so they feel natural, effective and sustainable for you.
