About Me

Meghan is based in Staunton, VA, where she enjoys farming, making pottery, and spending time with her dogs and partner. With a background in fine art and a deep appreciation for creativity and personal expression, she brings an eclectic, client-centered approach to therapy. Meghan believes in meeting clients where they are—whether they’re feeling stuck, healing from trauma, or working to strengthen their relationships. Her path to counseling was inspired by her own healing journey and a longstanding interest in the work of Carl Jung and other influential psychological theorists.

FAQs

One of the many moving experiences I've had as a therapist was with a client navigating deep grief. For a long time, their emotions felt hard to access. During one session, we explored a piece of music that resonated with them. As we analyzed the lyrics and the feelings that were stirred up, they were able to connect with a layer of sadness and love that had previously felt unreachable. Witnessing that emotional breakthrough and watching them sit with the feelings as they came up was a powerful moment. I was honored to hold space for such a tender and transformative moment, and I was reminded why I do this work.

A collaborative approach. I will ask you for feedback along the way, we will explore what works and doesn’t work, and what sessions have felt best for you. I will get an understanding of your previous therapeutic experiences and what you enjoyed, or didn’t, from them. We are a team! I am willing to pull in different treatment approaches depending on your personality, the presenting issue, and what you want.

My first session is typically a semi structured interview to gather information about what you want out of your healing journey and your background, and make connections. Every subsequent session, we will just talk and it will be far less structured— I rarely take notes during sessions beyond the first unless it’s part of an activity we are doing together.

It is truly the honor of a lifetime to witness people’s biggest breakthroughs. I believe in growth and transformation, and the crucible we create within the therapeutic bond can be an environment where magic happens. Being part of that feels like having a window into life’s most precious and profound moments.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My therapeutic style is rooted in psychodynamic principles while integrating tools from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This allows me to tailor our work together to best support your individual needs and goals. The road we take will typically depend on what you bring into the room, and what you tell me you want the landscape to look like. I see therapy as a collaborative journey. My role is to walk alongside you—offering a steady presence and encouragement as you grow into the fullest version of yourself. I’m not here to “fix” you—I’m here to help you reconnect with your own inner wisdom and resilience. Deep down, you have all the tools you need to grow in whatever direction you choose— I am here to help you recognize and use them.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Gottman Methods for Couples, Psychodynamic Therapy, Relational Life Therapy & Trauma-Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have pursued, and am still pursuing additional training in trauma healing and have a special place in my heart for folks navigating Complex trauma. I love working with ADHD, OCD, and other neurodivergent clients and exploring how to design a life that works well for you. I also feel well equipped to help clients navigating anxiety, strong inner critics, and perfectionism.
