About Valerie Gapco
Valerie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is passionate about helping others reconnect with their purpose, deepen their self-understanding, and rediscover joy. Her professional journey began in psychiatric inpatient facilities, where she supported both adults and children through some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Through this work, she developed a strong foundation in supporting individuals with serious mental illness and their families. Seeking alternative healing approaches for herself and her clients, Valerie became a licensed yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner—practices that have brought her personal clarity, spiritual connection, and peace. She later transitioned to outpatient settings, where she expanded her clinical skills working with children, teens, and families. Valerie is deeply grateful for the people and experiences that have shaped her path. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys spending time at the beach, painting, thrifting, and caring for her growing collection of plants.
FAQs
An example of a break through with a client I've had was helping someone learn to break core beliefs and maladaptive thinking. We worked on shifting low self worth, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts to identifying strengths, feeling hopeful for the future, adding positive daily habits, and experiencing more resiliency when life stressors presented themselves.
You can expect warmth, open-mindedness, and a holistic approach that honors your cultural and spiritual values. I use guided meditation, mindfulness, CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, creative art therapy, trauma focused therapy, and psychodrama to meet your unique needs. I’m here to help you uncover the insights and strengths already within you.
At the first session I like to focus on specific goals of treatment you have. I aim to pin point areas of functioning you want to improve in life.
The role of therapist has been a life path that I've been naturally drawn to since I was a child. I thrive the most by fostering genuine connections with others and helping people through challenging moments, teaching new skills, and managing mental health issues.
