Insurances We Support in Virginia

We accept most insurance plans. If your insurance is not listed, we will verify your benefits for potential acceptance. Alternatively, we offer a cost-effective self-pay option. Using our online therapy option? Insurance covers online therapy as well!

How Virtual Therapy in Virginia Works

Online therapy offers many benefits that in-person therapy doesn't: added convenience, greater provider options, and often lower cost, just to name a few. Plus, research shows that online therapy is just as effective at treating most mental health disorders as in-person therapy. At Lifebulb, our Virginia therapists only use proven, evidence-based therapy techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, so whether you're seeing a provider online or in person, you know you're getting the highest-quality care.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and seeking professional help can sometimes be necessary to tackle life's challenges. Lifebulb Therapy & Counseling in Virginia, VA offers a wide range of mental health services to help individuals overcome their struggles. Our services include but not limited to:

If you are searching for a supportive and empathetic counseling team, look no further than Lifebulb Counseling.

Yes! We offer 100% virtual online therapy to anyone living within the state of Virginia. Whether you are in a rural area or a major city, as long as you are a Virginia resident, you can see one of our licensed state counselors or psychiatrists. (Or both, for comprehensive talk therapy and online psychiatry services!)

Yes, we provide in-person therapy at select office locations throughout Virginia. To find an office near you, check out our city-specific location pages listed on this page. If we don’t have a physical office in your city yet, you can still match with our online providers and talk to them through our secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy platform, which is accessible across all of Virginia.

Virtual therapy at Lifebulb is simple and fully secure. Once you schedule your session, we will send you a HIPAA-compliant, private video link. At your appointment time, just find a quiet, private space (like your bedroom, office, or even a parked car) and click the link from your phone, tablet, or computer. So long as you have internet access and a private space to talk, you can reach your therapist or psychiatrist.

Not at all. As long as your therapist is licensed in the state of Virginia (which all of Lifebulb’s are!) and you are physically located in Virginia at the time of your session, you can match with any of our VA providers who fit your needs.

Weekly talk therapy sessions are highly effective. Lifebulb’s VA therapists only use proven therapy techniques to conduct their sessions, so that every session is working towards your goals. These therapy techniques include research-backed ones such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • EMDR

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy

  • Strength-Based Therapy

  • Person-Centered Therapy

Many of our therapists have additional specialties and certifications. Check out their bios in our therapist directory.

You can get medication online by talking to one of Lifebulb’s Virginia psychiatrists. Trained to treat mental health disorders, our Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners can diagnose mental health issues, prescribe medication, and manage mental health medication virtually. Taking medication for your mental health can be a great way to manage symptoms, feel better, and start healing, especially if you also talk to a therapist.

Lifebulb offers both psychiatrists and therapists in-house, so you don’t have to coordinate across teams or worry about miscommunication. Our staff handles it all for you.

The cost of therapy will depend on your insurance plan, the deductible, and the copay. On average, people with insurance in Virginia pay around $21 a session. Call our team, and we’ll verify your insurance benefits and give you a cost estimate for therapy or psychiatry sessions. Alternatively, enter your insurance into our cost estimator to get an estimate right away.

In almost all cases, yes. Most major insurance plans cover telehealth/virtual therapy exactly the same way they cover an in-person office visit. We accept major providers in Virginia, including Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, CareFirst, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, and Tricare. We will completely verify your benefits before your very first session, so you know exactly what to expect.

If your plan isn't on our primary list, don't worry. There are hundreds of insurance plans and subplans, and we can’t list them all. Use our insurance calculator to see a bigger list, or contact our scheduling team, and we’ll verify the benefits of your specific subplan.

We are in-network with most major insurance plans. If our VA therapists are out of network with you, we will work with you to find an affordable one option. We accept EAPs and CareCredit for affordable mental health care options, and our self-pay rate is much lower than the state average.

Most Lifebulb clients see their therapist or psychiatrist within 7 days of calling our scheduling team. Skip the wait lists and dreaded “ghost lists” of online directories. Give Lifebulb a call today.

You can browse our Virginia team right on this page and request a session online, or you can call our scheduling team directly at 855-722-4422. We'll talk through what you're looking for, match you with the right specialist, handle your insurance verification, and get you booked in less than 10 minutes.

You can also browse our VA therapist directory. Read through our therapists’ bios and pick one you feel would be a good fit for you!
