FAQs

To be honest, there are many successful stories and that is why this job is so rewarding. Right now who comes to mind is a 42 year old mom of two children. She has an 8 year old nonverbal autistic son and a 4 year old son who we believe is also on the autistic spectrum. This client's husband passed away suddenly two years ago and she has been practically alone raising and taking care of her boys.

This client presented with depression and anxiety. We have been working together for close to a year now and this client has been able to demonstrate great levels of resiliency. Right now she has her children scheduled for their therapies, in a steady home routine and is now working to renew her physical therapist license to go back to work.I am very proud of the hard work this client has done with very little support and a depression that limited her functioning.

I like to get to know my clients and their presenting problems in order to explore treatment goals. They are always in the driver's seat of their treatment, I am just a guide to help them navigate the therapeutic journey. According to their needs we will promote insight, reflect on specifics of their situation and set realistic and obtainable goals.

The ultimate goal is always to promote mental health stability and safety.

In the first session I like to introduce myself and go over confidentiality and its limitations. I do like to share that my goal is to promote a judgement free environment; a place where
they will feel safe to share their feelings and thoughts openly. After that, I like to ask them to tell me about themselves and to share about what brings them to session.
I believe the first session is always about getting to know the client, their presenting problem and symptoms they may be experiencing.
I always leave time to explore how they felt speaking to me in this space and to answer any questions they may have.

I became interested in mental health when I started to identify family members suffering from it. Since then, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Working with individuals and families is very rewarding especially when we are able to see/promote progress. I always like to say that the client is truly the one doing the hard work and we are just guides, but to know that we helped, even if it was by just adding a grain of sugar, salt, sand or a simple little push to help someone find their way, is simply wonderful.

Promoting change and motivating others to reach their therapeutic goals motivates me to continue loving what I do.
