About Emma Campbell

Emma believes that somewhere inside each of us, there is already a quiet knowing; a personal compass that points toward what we need. Her role as a therapist isn't to hand you a map, but to help you learn to trust the one you already carry. Emma holds a BA in Psychology and an MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, and brings over four years of clinical experience working with individuals, families, and groups. She work with people navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma, with a particular focus on life transitions, those moments when the ground shifts and what once felt certain no longer does. Change, even when it's chosen, can be disorienting. That's a normal and human response, and it's exactly the kind of space she is here to sit with you in.

FAQs

I once worked with a client who carried deep anger that had colored her entire life. Through slow, patient work together, she was able to reframe her experience so completely that genuine relief and even appreciation replaced what had once felt immovable. Watching that shift happen was one of the most profound moments of my career.

Every person is different, so the process reflects that. There's no rigid roadmap. I pay close attention to what's moving you forward and adjust accordingly, at a pace that feels right for you.

The first session is really just about getting acquainted, which could be a relaxed conversation to understand your background and what's brought you in, so you leave feeling heard and comfortable.

This work, at its core, is an honor. Being invited into someone's inner world as they explore their fears, dreams, and truest self is something I never take lightly, and it's a journey that makes me a better person too.

Highlights

Emma Campbell, Supervisee in Social Work, is under the clinical supervision of Courtney Weaver, LCSW, 2340 Commonwealth Dr. Ste 0101 Charlottesville, VA 22901, 434-214-6556, while obtaining supervised post-master’s degree experience per the laws and regulations governing the practice of Social Work.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

More than anything, I hope you leave each session feeling a little more like yourself. Over time, you'll build a clearer sense of what you're feeling and why, develop practical tools for managing distress, and (perhaps most importantly) learn to trust your own instincts, even when life is uncertain. My hope is that the self-awareness and steadiness you build here travels with you long after our work together is done. Therapy, at its best, makes itself unnecessary. That's always the goal.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy & Mindfulness Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is listening in a way that goes beyond words; not just to what you're saying, but to what's sitting underneath it. I'm comfortable with complexity, and my background in both clinical practice and the arts has shaped how I approach human experience with curiosity and nuance. Most of all, I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. My commitment is to figure out what you specifically need and adapt until we find what works.
