About Me

Greetings, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience working with clients in private practice setting and university/college settings. My first area of expertise is in the area of Career Indecision, Career Anxiety, Women returning to the workforce after divorce or loss, Career Transitions, Layoffs and Underemployment concerns. Some clients are dealing with toxic work environments and need guidance to navigate out of this situation. Another specialty is working with business owners and coaching them through a myriad of business owner dilemmas. Owning a business can be overwhelming and I can help you sort out some of your most pressing issues. As a former business owner myself, I can help you with these complex situations. Sometimes it is hard to figure out the most pressing issues and having an objective counseling professional help you during these times can be very reassuring that you are on the right path. I can assist you on this journey. And my third area of expertise is as a trained Controlled Separation facilitator for couples considering divorce. If you feel your marriage is in crisis and you don’t know whether you should stay or go (to get a divorce or not), then take the opportunity to learn more about this third option: a controlled separation. You owe it to yourself to invest in the time to discover which decision is right for you and your partner.

I counseled a business executive as he moved through his childhood issues and  current emotional barriers so that he could succeed in creating a better  organizational plan to lead his business to success. He was able to identify  the behaviors that were detrimental to his lifestyle and were blocking his  true goals for expanding his business. I was able to help him as he moved  through these issues and he has a very successful business today.

My clients will expect to receive genuine openness, honesty and a caring professional who has experience helping them through their current stressors towards their goals for healthy relationships or career and business successes.

The first session is an open session where we will discuss your current  situation and the issues bringing you into counseling. You will gain some  helpful suggestions at the end of the first session to begin planning towards  some relief of the most urgent stressor. We will then set up a plan for the  frequency of our meetings and estimate of a timeline for success.

I did not receive any career guidance as a young person and often wonder what I  could have become if I had some career guidance. So I am motivated to help  folks gain that knowledge at whatever stage they might be in. Secondly, I have  been divorced and again, wish that I had learned about a Controlled Separation  agreement to help my former spouse and I work through that difficult time.  Finally, I am a former business owner and am fully aware of all the challenges  that ownership can bring to a person. So I hope to bring my myriad of personal  and life experiences, matched with my professional training as a counselor to  help clients through the darkness that can descend in our lives. There is hope  and light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients will take away practical, real world guidance to assist them in their decision making processes. Life can be complicated at times and when we are in the middle of it we frequently cannot see that light at the end of the tunnel. I will help you see the light, and focus on the steps you choose to take to obtain your goals.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use CBT and solution-focused brief therapy to help clients realize goals. For some career clients, we may use the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory to help gain clarity with career confusion. For the Controlled Separation clients we will use a mutually agreed upon written contract to help ease the stress and help you examine what you need out of the relationship during this transitional time.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work with clients ages 18 and over for career issues, business coaching challenges and Controlled Separation for couples. I am a very compassionate listener with the ability to see behavioral patterns in order to connect the dots for you to make your own decisions based upon some of your past behavior.
